Pics from the week

Fun Pictures (except she is not really smiley in them):

1. This is Lil's dog named Butte. After Crested Butte - Kiley & Chris gave this to her and that is where they live. Thanks guys - she loves it! Mostly to eat it...but she love it!

2. Last week was the question to Bumper or not to bumper...Lily wasn't sleeping well because he legs were getting caught all of the time. Solution: we decided to bumper only on the side that her feet are. This way she shouldn't be at risk of SIDS and she won't get stuck at night.

3. Lil and I

4. Grandma Mary babysitting on Friday

5. Grandma Ann from Mickey's road trip on Thursday

6. Mickey, Grandma Ad, Corey & Lil from trip on Thursday

7. Thanks for lending us the jumper Cal, Dan & Abe...I think she will end up loving this thing. For now it seems a little strange for her.

Weekend Update

To finish week update:

Friday - Grandma Mary came to watch Lil. They had a wonderful day. I was told that she was on her best behavior. The two of them played a lot, walked a lot and even giggled a lot! That's right - I said GIGGLE!!! This is something that she has not done until now. They were having a ball with it. I think my mom was surprised when I got home and said this was a big first! I am sooo glad that Grandma Mary was able to share this very special first with her:) Mickey and I continue to try to get her to do it again...so far - no luck. She must be waiting for something really funny to happen. haha!

That evening the 3 of us went to dinner and picked up a good deal on a used Burley (pull behind bike cart for Lil) from Nicole's sister! We can't wait to use it. It won't be until next year - but still we couldn't pass it up.

Saturday we hung out and worked around the house. That night Guido came over and hung out with Lily & Mickey. So I went to Rachel's and hung out with her & Colie. It was great to sit and catch up all night.

Today has been lazy, cuddling day. We did go for a nice walk and Grandpa Gary surprised us on the way home form a motorcycle trip.

Overall weekend rating: 4 stars!

Daddy and Lily Road Trip

Thursday Mickey took the day off to be with Lily.
Here is his story:

Lil and I packed up the diaper bag and took off for New Ulm Thursday morning. She had a clean diaper and a full tummy before we took off, so the drive down went very smooth. Our first stop was to Grandma's office so that she could show her off to her co-workers. She soaked in the attention and received many compliments about her beautiful blue eyes. But she started to cry at the end of the tour so I walked quickly to the exit. She cried all the way to Great Grandma Ad's which was our next destination. It had been three hours since we departed from home so I knew the diaper would be wet and that she'd be hungry. Soon the crying turned to into a full force meltdown! Nothing is worse than a baby girl with tears running down her cheeks. Normally I'd hand her off to Anne in this situation but it was all on me. So I ran into Great Grandma's house, took her out of the car seat that was soaked in baby sweat, changed the diaper in record time while I ordered GG to mix up a bottle of formula STAT! Lil sucked the bottle down and was soon back to her normal self.

The rest of the day was spent at Grandma and Grandpa's house. They got to spend some much needed quality time with her. My cousin Corey and Aunt Joanne also stopped by so it was great for Lily to see her Wiltscheck relatives.

Before long Lily and I were on the road again heading back home. I was exhausted from the long day so I hoped the drive would be easy. The weather was perfect, the roads were dry and we were listening to some Beethoven as we watched the sunset over the beautiful flat lands of southern MN. But soon the whimpering started. I was able to reach back to her car seat to shove the nuk back into her mouth, but that only held her off for a few minutes. I was about an hour away from home so I was praying that she'd hold on. But the tears started flowing again! So I pulled into the nearest gas station. I tried to soothe her crying with her in the seat but something was wrong. So I took her out of the car and walked her around the parking lot. I then noticed that I was at some run down trucker joint so Cooter and Cletus Redneck were just staring at me like I was Clark Griswold in the family truckster. I then felt a soggy wet substance on my hands...yep, she pooped out of her diaper into her pants. So I laid her down in my backseat while I cleaned up the greenish/brown/orange crap from her bottom. I thought that the crying would subside....but my luck was running out. Anne has taught me that I need to check three things when she's upset. She's either hungry, needs to burp or has a dirty diaper. So I jumped into the backseat and mixed up a bottle. It was then that I had a moment of clarity. I was stressed out, my own bladder was full and I just wanted to get home! For some reason I started to think what the 21 year old/college/party guy Mickey would think about this situation. So I envisioned my younger self walking by the car and saying, "that poor dude, it must suck to deal with a crying, stinky baby all the time.....what a loser." Just the thought made me bust out in laughter and turned my mood around. Now the truckers were really staring at me! Soon enough Lily was fully satisfied so I put her stained clothes in my trunk, strapped her into the car seat wearing just a diaper, turned the Beethoven back on and got the hell out of dodge!

Anne saw the look on my face as soon as I got home and quickly took Lily from my arms. I went straight to bed, but before I could fall asleep I couldn't help but think that I'll never forget this experience for the rest of my life. And better yet, after this day I know that I can handle anything. So I'm no longer fearful of taking Lily on my own.....which makes my wife very happy.

Thank you Zweber Girls

This week has been kind of crazy for Lily. Nanny Pat is out this week, so I got creative with child care options. Monday Mickey stayed home with Lily. Dad & babe had a great day!!!

Yesterday Lily was with Kate, Zoe & Ellie. She had a wonderful time! Kate is so brave and such a good sitter & sister...she took all 3 girls on a walk to visit grandma Mary at work and then they went to the Burnsville Center for some shopping!!! Yikes! It sounds like a lot of work, but it was a great idea because both Lil and Ellie do so well in the stroller. Kate did mention that the girls did so well - that she got both Zoe & Ellie's wardrobes set for next summer! (Everything is on major clearance now.)

Once I got there, we all headed over to watch Dan's baseball game with Grandpa Bill. Dan did great! He even scored a point!

PS - I wanted to take a picture of Kate with all of the girls yesterday, but I didn't have my camera. I did happen to take this pic of Zoe with my phone! She is always adorable and growing up so fast! (Love the Hot Pink hair!!!)

She did it!

Last night Lily rolled over from the back to the front. It took a while. She kept getting stuck by that one arm, but eventually she learned to get around that. I am so glad both Mickey and I were there to watch this:)
This morning when I went to get her, she was laying on her stomach again. We need to start watching even more carefully now that she is rockn' & rolln'!

Awesome BABY

I LOVE LILY! WE LOVE LILY!!!
She really is just sooo awesome! Mickey and I say over and over how lucky and blessed we are to have this beautiful, happy, amazing little girl!

This weekend she has been so much fun. She is close to being able to really giggle. She'll let out many 'Ha-s', coo's and baby talk. She smiles a ton and now she is on the verge of being able to really laugh. I can't wait!

More progress: Lil is almost rolling over. She gets that first leg over, a second, an arm and lays on her side. Her head is pretty much there... but she is just not totally there with the other arm to make the transition complete. This is very exciting for us. I REALLY hope that she does it for us soon:) Maybe even tonight!

Words can not explain how I feel about her ~ We are just so happy!
