Parade Day

Friday was the start of South Saint Paul's Kaposia Days. One of the advantages of our home is that we live on the parade route. So every year that we have lived here we have people over, drink a few beers, grill some dogs and enjoy the parade. We had a good turn out this year, despite the rainy weather. It was pretty grim about an hour before the start, but luckily it let up and we all had a nice time. Thanks everyone who came over. It was great to see you all! The food was great and we loved the cake! Gary - thanks for all of your help setting up.

Thursday

Today has been a special Day for Lil and I. It is our last day home alone before I head back to work. (Tomorrow we have company and the parade, so it doesn't count.) We spent a lot of time cuddling, looking at each other, talking, went for a nice walk, gave her a massage & now she is napping. This is going to be very different for us. Of coarse I am sad, I will miss her so much. But I know she is in good hands and everything will be great. I think it is time that I stop living in a fantasy world and see what 'normal' is like for us. It will be good - just different.

E-I-E-I-O

My family (parents, Dan, Zwebers, Grandpa &Grandma Friedges) took a long weekend vacation to a farm in Fountain City, Wisconsin. It was hidden on the bluffs of the Mississippi River, across from Winona. Going in to it we were not exactly sure what to expect, but it ended up being a wonderful trip! My mom is so creative and she came up with the idea. She wanted us "city slickers" to experience what real farm life was like. Thanks mom for bring us here, it was awesome!

We had our own farm house to use. The couple who runs this farm has a home 1 mile down the road. At there place they have cows, baby calves, dogs, kittens and chickens. Where we stayed there were chickens, goats, geese, a dog and a lamb. Farmer Jess took us on a hay ride tour of the land, it was so beautiful. We were right on the cliff looking down.

Highlights of the trip:
- Steve's new farmer look
- Zoe feeding the calves and collecting eggs for breakfast
- Ellie putting her hand in the mouth of a calf
- Kate milking a cow
- relaxing & spending time with the family
- mom's photo shoot
- dancing to music from the old record player at night
- taking an uninterrupted nap!!!
- Dan & Dad's great jokes all weekend! Hey!
- Kate & I wearing Tall Ellie's overalls (thanks Ellie - pictures to come:)

If anyone is looking for a different vacation and a chance to experience the farm life, check out Room to Roam.

Have a great weekend

We're off for the weekend now...
Green Acres Here We Come!

First night of Summer Kickball

The first night of summer kickball started on Wednesday. It was not a big win - but Next Time it will be:) Here are a few shots from the game. As you can see - both Lily and Blake are supporting the team.

PS - Heiney you Rule!!! Way to go!
PSS - the shocking baby pics Rule!

Best Garage Sale Buy

The Party Dome
(that is what I call it anyway.)
Lily loves this thing! She is so content & happy when she is in it. She enjoys the hanging things & the room to kick. It is light weight and easy to carry. I originally got it so I could do yard work & she could hang out (it zips up to be bug free.) Now I use it in the house too. I can get a few things done. It was great to bring to the activities this past weekend so she could take a break from all of the stimulation. This weekend it will double as a bed while we are out of town. Hopefully she will not party in it all night. We'll have to take the hanging things down for bed time. Retail price about $50, Garage sale price $15, negotiating price $10. what a deal!

PS - Trish did tell me that she found a recall on this item. So today I am going to check into that. Geez - I sure hope everything is okay & we have a good model - we LOVE this thing!

good times

Monday came around this week and for the first time in a long time - Lily and I had no plans. We'll we can't just sit at home all day (besides our daily walk.) So I made a call to Brenda and we met up with her and a couple of others from work for lunch. I do really miss my co-workers. I am so lucky that I have so many friends at work. We were able to stop in to the office and see everyone there too. Miss Lil was extra chatty and flashed that beautiful smile numerous times:)

Yesterday we went for a nice walk and even walked down to the post office in SSP. Several of my friends have walked this hill with me in the past. Let me tell you - it is much more difficult walking up it in the hot sun pushing a stroller, than around 2 a.m. with a few drinks in you after a night of dancing. But it was a nice work out.

We also went to our New Parent Group yesterday. That reminds me that next week will be my last group, as the following I will be back to work. Tear. Today several of us from my group went for a nice walk along the river. Lily and I love these beautiful days!!!

Tonight is the first night of Summer Kickball (Spring just ended last week.) I am almost positive that we will make it there and Lily will be in her uniform cheering on the team. Goooo Rubbers!

Weekend Update: Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!!!
Mickey - you are a wonderful Dad, Lily & I are so Blessed!
Dad - you are the Best! I am so lucky to have you!
Gary - I couldn't ask for a better Father in Law!
Thanks for Everything!

Sunday morning we got Mickey Breakfast, the paper and a dozen Lily's! He enjoyed them all. That afternoon we went to my grandparents to celebrate Father's Day with the Friedges Clan. We all had a wonderful afternoon sitting out in the beautiful weather and hanging out.

Weekend Update: Saturday

Lily is now 10 weeks old! Wow - it is going so fast!

Saturday night we went to a Flag Day party at Tim Jentz's (Kickball teammate) place in Minneapolis. It also was Tim's 30th Birthday:) We had an awesome time hanging out with Friends. Lily was able to see her boyfriend Blake again. She also enjoyed being held by Donella and Colie all night! She loves my friends! (so do I:) We said that we would leave the party when Lily told us it was time to go. She must have been having fun because we were there all night. Great Party Jentz!

Weekend Update: Friday

Friday night Ann & Gary and Mickey's Uncle Gary & Aunt Josie came over. They are here from AZ and in town to attend a 50th Wedding Anniversary party. We went to Granite City Brewery for dinner. I love that place - the food is great! We had a wonderful night & were in great company. Lily was on her best behavior.
